Deep Cleaning Services in Gibraltar: Property Restoration & Hygiene
A deep clean is not a longer version of a regular clean. It is a different job, with a different purpose: to reset a property to a standard that ordinary maintenance can then hold. On the Rock, where Calima compacts in window tracks, salt etches glass and Levante humidity feeds mould behind every wardrobe, that reset matters more than almost anywhere else in Europe. This guide explains what a professional deep clean in Gibraltar actually covers, when you need one, and how we do it.

What “Deep Clean” Means — and What It Does Not
Regular service: Residential Cleaning Gibraltar →The phrase is used loosely across the industry, which is why so many clients are disappointed. Some companies call a slightly longer maintenance visit a deep clean. We do not. Our definition is simple: a deep clean addresses every area of the property that a regular clean, by design, does not touch, and it brings every surface back to a baseline from which routine visits can maintain it.
That distinction matters for cost and expectations. A deep clean takes most of a day, usually with a team of two or three, and it is priced as a project rather than a visit. It is also, in our experience, the single most effective thing a Gibraltar homeowner can do for the long-term condition of the property, because it deals with the slow, hidden damage — mineral build-up, compacted dust, early mould — that never shows on a surface wipe.
| Regular maintenance clean | Deep clean | |
|---|---|---|
| Goal | Hold the standard | Reset the standard |
| Time | 2 – 4 hours | 6 – 10 hours, team of 2–3 |
| Appliances | Exteriors | Interiors, filters, seals |
| Furniture | Around and beneath where reachable | Moved where safe; behind and under fully cleaned |
| Limescale & grout | Spot-treated | Fully descaled and antifungal-treated |
| Windows | Interior glass, sills wiped | Tracks vacuumed and scrubbed, frames detailed, glass restored |
| Storage | Exteriors | Wardrobes and cupboards emptied, treated, refilled |
Why Gibraltar Properties Need Restorative Cleaning
Three local conditions turn ordinary wear into something that needs a periodic reset. Understanding them explains why our deep-clean scope looks different from a UK checklist.
Calima compaction
Saharan dust arrives fine and dry, then absorbs humidity from the air and binds to whatever it landed on. In window tracks, terrace drains and grout lines it compacts into a silica paste that a cloth will not shift. A deep clean vacuums it out, scrubs the track and rinses it — work that a maintenance visit has neither the time nor the tools for.
Levante humidity and mould
When the easterly wind sits over the Rock, indoor humidity in a closed apartment stays high for days. Spores establish in the places that never see light or airflow: the back panels of wardrobes on external walls, the underside of bathroom cabinets, behind headboards and inside extractor housings. A deep clean empties those spaces, treats them and gets air to them.
Hard water and salt
Gibraltar’s water leaves mineral deposits on every wet surface within days. Combined with salt from the sea air, the result is a film on shower screens, taps, tiles and balcony glass that dulls, then etches. Full descaling with the correct chemistry — never an off-the-shelf acid on natural stone — is a core part of every deep clean we do.
The Complete Deep Clean Scope
This is our working task sheet. Everything on a regular visit is included; the items below are what a deep clean adds.
Kitchen
- —Oven interior, racks and door glass fully degreased; hob and hood dismantled where possible and filters degreased.
- —Fridge and freezer emptied, shelves and drawers washed, seals cleaned, interior sanitised, coils vacuumed.
- —Dishwasher filter and seals cleaned; washing machine drawer and seal treated for mould.
- —Cupboards emptied where requested, interiors wiped, contents replaced.
- —Behind and beneath free-standing appliances cleaned — a primary site for pest activity.
- —Splashback grout descaled; sink and taps fully descaled and polished.
Bathrooms
- —Shower screen, tiles, tray and grout fully descaled; silicone treated with an antifungal product.
- —Extractor cover removed and cleaned; housing wiped.
- —Cabinets emptied where requested and interiors treated for condensation and mould.
- —Toilet fully descaled including under the rim; floor behind and around the base sanitised.
- —Pipes, radiators and towel rails detailed.
Bedrooms, living areas and storage
- —Wardrobes and drawers emptied, interiors and back panels wiped and treated, contents replaced.
- —Furniture moved where safe; floors and skirting behind and beneath cleaned.
- —Mattresses and upholstery HEPA-vacuumed and, where appropriate, steam-treated.
- —Light fittings, ceiling fans, air-conditioning vents and filters cleaned.
- —Doors, frames and skirting boards washed, not just dusted.
Windows, balconies and terraces
- —Window tracks vacuumed, scrubbed and rinsed; frames detailed inside.
- —Interior glass restored; balcony glass curtains and rails rinsed, descaled and dried.
- —Terrace floors wet-lifted and washed; drains cleared of Calima and debris.
- —Outdoor furniture washed.
Exterior high-level glass on apartment blocks is the one item we exclude, because it needs reach-and-wash safety equipment. We refer that work to our partner Window Clean Gib and can coordinate it with your deep clean.
When to Book a Deep Clean
Before or after a tenancy
Letting agents check against the inventory, not against “looks clean”. A deep clean is the standard that protects a deposit or prepares a property for new tenants.
Starting a regular schedule
The first visit of any weekly or fortnightly arrangement should be a deep clean. It sets the baseline the routine visits then maintain.
After building work
Fine construction dust settles everywhere, including inside cupboards and vents. Ordinary cleaning spreads it; a deep clean removes it.
Quarterly maintenance
For homes on a regular schedule, a deep clean every three months deals with the slow accumulation — limescale, tracks, filters — that routine visits cannot.
After a major Calima or Levante
When a dust event coincides with a humid spell, a restorative visit is the difference between a rinse and a replacement.
Selling or letting
A restored property photographs better, shows better and lets or sells faster. It is one of the cheapest improvements available.
If none of these apply and the property simply feels tired — glass that never looks quite clear, a faint mustiness in the spare room, taps that dull within a day of being polished — that is usually the sign that mineral and dust build-up has reached the point where routine cleaning is treading water. A single deep clean resets it, and the routine visits that follow get visibly better results for the same effort.
How a deep clean fits alongside routine visits depends on how often you clean. Our weekly versus monthly guide explains which schedule suits which property, and why the interval matters so much in this climate.
How We Work: Method, Chemistry and Safety
A deep clean done with the wrong products damages the property it is meant to restore. Three principles govern every job we do.
Match the chemistry to the surface. Natural stone, marble and unsealed wood get pH-neutral products only. Descaling uses dedicated agents formulated for mineral deposits, never household acids that etch stone and dull chrome. Antifungal treatment for grout and silicone uses products designed for wet rooms, applied with dwell time, not sprayed and wiped.
Steam where it helps, not everywhere. High-temperature steam sanitises grout, upholstery and tile without chemical residue and is ideal for homes with young children or pets. It is not appropriate for every surface, and knowing where not to use it is part of the skill.
Capture, do not redistribute. HEPA-filtered vacuums remove fine Calima and construction dust from the air rather than pushing it back out. Colour-coded cloths keep bathroom and kitchen work separate. Everything is dried, not left wet, so nothing we have just cleaned becomes a new mould site.

Booking, Pricing and What to Expect
Deep cleans are priced as a project after a short consultation, because scope varies enormously between a well-kept one-bed flat and a three-storey house after a tenancy. We will ask for the district, bedrooms and bathrooms, the reason for the clean, and whether appliances and storage should be included. From that we issue a fixed price, and the price does not change on the day. If you are still choosing a provider, our guide to hiring a house cleaning service in Gibraltar lists the questions worth asking any company before you hand over keys.
On the day, a team of two or three arrives with all equipment and chemistry. We work room by room from the top of the property down, dry as we go, and finish with a walk-through so you can raise anything before we leave. Regular clients then move onto their maintenance schedule from a genuinely clean baseline.

Message us on WhatsAppFrequently Asked Questions
How long does a deep clean take?
Most of a day. A one-bedroom flat in good condition takes a team of two around five to six hours; a family house after a tenancy can take a team of three a full day.
Do I need to be there?
Only for the walk-through at the end if you want one. Many clients hand over keys under our secure key-holding protocol and return to a finished property.
Is a deep clean the same as an end-of-tenancy clean?
Very close. An end-of-tenancy clean follows the same scope but is checked against the letting agent’s inventory rather than your own standard, and it usually includes every appliance and every storage space by default.
How often should I book one?
Quarterly for homes on a regular schedule; before and after any tenancy; after building work; and after a major Calima event on a sea-facing property.
Do you use harsh chemicals?
No. Our products are matched to each surface, and we favour steam and mechanical methods where they do the job. Everything used is safe for homes with children and pets once dry.
